CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga County sheriff’s deputies will not face charges over a high-speed police chase in March that left two people dead .

On Wednesday, Special Prosecutor A. Steven Dever released his review of the March 28 crash that led to the deaths of a fleeing suspect, Nigel Perry, and a bystander, Tamya Westmoreland.

Though Dever’s report clears the deputies from legal charges, officers Kasey Loudermilk and Robert Piccola could still face internal discipline if a review finds they violated policy.

“The conduct of the deputies to become involved in the pursuit was not the direct or proximate cause of the fatal crash,” Dever wrote.
