N otions , the latest series by artist Beth Dary, is a vibrant collection of floating sculpture on view at Front Room Gallery in Hudson, beginning with an opening reception for her solo show on Nov. 15.

Explosions of color strike the eye in formations resembling something you’d find in nature, but you’re not sure where — molecular structures one moment, floral arrangements the next.

Assembled from colored glass pins embedded in fabric over steel hoops, Dary refers to the sculptures as “kinetic” because they’re suspended and they move. She credits New York artist Alan Saret’s wire sculptures for helping inform how to suspend the works in Notions to achieve the desired effect.
