The Maximum Fun Tour with A Day to Remember and Yellowcard is a strange one having started with fans moshing on lawns in amphitheaters and now moving into arenas, the domain of the Sabrina Carpenters and Maroon 5s of the world.
Chalk this one up as a show where the ushers probably never heard of the bands.
Both of them, from Florida, came to their relative fame with novel approaches: A Day to Remember having the bright, or dumb, idea, depending on your outlook, to combine pop-punk and metalcore, and Yellowcard being pop-punk + violin.
After an opening set by fellow Warped alums, The Wonder Years, Yellowcard greeted the PPG Paints Arena crowd on Wednesday with guitarist Ryan Mendez leading them in the “Top Gun Anthem,” making it sound like the opening of a Kansas concert.
