The ongoing disruption of payments for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beneficiaries is not only putting a strain on people who rely on them for food, it is also causing grocery stores to feel the impact as well.

Due to the government shutdown in D.C., SNAP payments did not go out on Nov. 1 to the 42 million Americans who rely on them, including 2 million people in Pennsylvania, 800,000 people in New Jersey and 100,000 people in Delaware.

A judge has since forced the Trump administration to use more than $4 billion in contingency funds to provide "partial payments," but the administration says it will take weeks for those payments to go out.
