(NewsNation) — Republican Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan believes that Tuesday's election results don't hold the same value as the national election a year ago.

"I do think it's a little difficult and maybe not just accurate to compare a national election one year ago with a three-state, one big blue city election yesterday and somehow say that they're equivalent," he told "On Balance."

Jordan's comments come after Democrats won big Tuesday in key state and local races across the country. New Jersey and Virginia voters elected Democrats Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger, respectively, over their Republican opponents in gubernatorial elections. Three Democratic justices were retained on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
