CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — The Champaign-Urbana Winter Farmer's Market, in partnership with The Land Connection, continues to accept SNAP benefits for produce at its vendors.
By releasing and raising funds, The Land Connection managed to continue helping Champaign-Urbana SNAP recipients. The Land Connection Food Access Manager Ian Nutting said that they are suing a pre-existing token program so that SNAP customers can still make purchases.
"You can come and show your SNAP card to us, we will give you market currencies to spend at our market on that day," Nutting explained. "That's going to help our vendors, it's going to help folks get healthy, nutritious foods on that day, in their time of need."
Nutting said the community has shown up to help, but as the government shutdown persists,
