HANFORD, Wash. – The Washington Department of Ecology announced the transportation of the first containers of low activity nuclear waste to the Integrated Disposal Facility at the Hanford site.
The facility is a permitted landfill engineered specifically for the disposal of such waste by the Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology).
According to Ecology, these containers are set to become the first permanently disposed of at the site.
