Brazilian model Larissa has expressed her shock after her photograph was allegedly used multiple times in the Haryana voter list, a claim made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a press conference. Gandhi accused the Haryana government of large-scale voter fraud in the upcoming 2024 Assembly elections, stating that one in eight voters in the state could be fake. He presented what he termed the 'H-Files', revealing that around 25 lakh voter records were either duplicate, non-existent, or manipulated.
In a video response, Larissa said, "Guys, I'm gonna tell you a joke — it's too horrible! They're using an old picture of me for elections in India, showing me as Indian. What a mess!" She explained that the photo was taken during her modeling days and that she is no longer a model. "I don’t have anything to do with Indian politics. I sell stock photos, and it seems that some person bought this photo from a website and used it," she added.
Gandhi displayed a section of the voter list showing Larissa's image used under various names, including Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati. He questioned, "Who is this lady? Where does she come from?" and asserted that the woman was not Indian but a Brazilian model whose stock photograph had been misused.
Larissa, who has never been to India, welcomed her new followers from the country and expressed her gratitude for their support. She humorously noted, "It’s funny because I don’t look Indian to me. Honestly, I always thought I looked Mexican." She also mentioned that many Indian journalists have reached out for interviews, and she is amused by the attention her photo has garnered in the context of the election.
The situation has raised questions about the integrity of the voter list in Haryana, as Gandhi claims that the misuse of images like Larissa's is part of a larger issue of electoral fraud.
