After months of waiting, the high school football postseason has finally arrived in North Carolina.
This fall marks the first season under the new eight-classification format, a change designed to accommodate the state’s rapid growth in high school athletics.
The shift brings slight adjustments, including an increase in first-round byes. Two Wilmington-area football teams will get the opening week off before beginning their playoff runs.
