A major tragedy was averted in Salur on Thursday morning after a bus caught fire while climbing a hill. Driver's swift response all 10 passengers on board were safely evacuated before the flames engulfed the vehicle.
According to officials, the incident occurred when sparks suddenly began emanating from the engine, followed by thick smoke. The driver immediately stopped the bus and instructed passengers to get down.
Moments later, the engine caught fire. Firefighters reached the scene promptly and managed to douse the flames within a short time.
District ASP Ankita Surana said that an initial probe suggests a short circuit may have caused the fire, though a detailed technical investigation is underway to determine the exact reason.
