Bhubaneswar : The Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Biplab Keshari Samantray, District Social Security Officer (DSSO) of Keonjhar, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an NGO through digital mode (PhonePe).

Samantray is accused of taking bribes from NGOs and individuals in connection with the execution of agreements and release of grant-in-aid payments under social security schemes. The vigilance team has found evidence of multiple PhonePe transactions of receipt of money from various NGOs and individuals, which are under verification.

A case has been registered against Samantray under Section 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and searches have been conducted at three locations. The searches have revealed details of 10 plots in and around Bhubaneswar in Samantray’s
