With the government shutdown - currently the second-longest in American history - President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have slipped slightly in recent weeks compared to earlier this year.
Trump remains a polarizing figure, as his second term has been marked by a series of unconventional - and often unprecedented - actions.
The federal government shutdown stalemate underscores Trump’s turbulent second term, during which he has deployed troops in U.S. cities, imposed widespread tariffs, slashed federal spending by eliminating government jobs through the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, and, just last week, authorized the demolition of the White House’s historic East Wing to make way for a 90,000-square-foot ballroom.
