During the 1950s, Tom Paxton recorded a cute little jingle titled “My Dog’s Bigger than Your Dog.” It was so catchy that Ken-L Ration dog food picked it up for its quite successful television commercial. In essence, the melodic lines are the juvenile vaunting of a child convinced he has the bragging rights to a number of issues he boasts over his playmates, however illogical his assertions may actually be. For example, he claims his dog is bigger because he (sic) had puppies, his dad is louder because he screams when mother buys a new dress, and his mom is funnier because her hair keeps changing colors.
