The defending Memorial Cup champs surrendered three goals, 18 shots and a couple of breakaways in the first period of a disappointing 6-4 loss to the Guelph Storm before 3,963 Wednesday night at Sleeman Centre. “We needed to start with a little more oomph,” London assistant coach Rick Steadman said. “We got behind, but I thought we showed some good push-back at the end.”

You can’t argue with the stats. The Knights are now 2-3-2 when they trail after the first period and are 6-1 when leading through 20 minutes this season.
