New Delhi: Google is launching Gemini-based navigations and proactive safety notifications in Google Maps in India, introducing conversational AI and real-time road insights to millions of drivers. Through the rollout, it is possible to receive hands-free and natural voice-based interaction where users can request nearby stops, ask about destinations, and request multi-step actions like finding a restaurant and getting directions, all with the help of the AI of Gemini.

It comes only a day after its introduction in the U.S. and will target Android and iOS users within a few weeks. It is a major improvement for Indian users, merging local knowledge with high-level generative AI to make the process of driving safer, more convenient, and more individual.
