Michigan consumers hoping to refresh their living spaces may find themselves paying more than expected for household furnishings.
Prices for bedroom furniture in the United States were 4% higher in September compared with January, according to the most recent Consumer Price Index data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Living room, kitchen and dining furniture increased by 3% in that time and other furniture (a category that includes entertainment centers, bookcases and desks) rose by 5%. Prices have increased this year as country-specific tariffs have gone into effect, economists and furniture company executives say.
