The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Thursday conducted searches at six locations in Jammu and Kashmir, including the premises of former minister Babu Singh, in connection with its probe into narco-terror funding in the Union Territory.

Sources said the searches were carried out at four places in Srinagar and two in Jammu under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Among the locations raided was the residence of former minister Jatinder Singh alias Babu Singh, an ex-MLA from Kathua. The former minister had been arrested in April 2022 in connection with the case.

The case dates back to March 30, 2022, when one Mohammad Shareef Shah from Kashmir was detained in Jammu with Rs 6.9 lakh of what police claimed was hawala money.
