A federal judge is ordering U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to clean up its Chicago area processing facility — literally.

In a four-page ruling issued Wednesday afternoon, U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman ordered ICE have holding cells inside its Broadview, Illinois, processing facility cleaned at least twice per day, in addition to distributing soap and toothbrushes to detainees and allowing them to shower.

The judge’s temporary restraining order follows a day-long hearing Tuesday during which undocumented immigrants who’d been held at Broadview in recent weeks testified they were pressured to sign voluntary deportation forms in order to escape the facility’s overcrowded and filthy conditions.
