CUMBERLAND/LINCOLN – The Cumberland/Lincoln Animal Shelter on Wellington Road in Lincoln has been busy as of late, welcoming a sudden influx of cats and dogs to their facilities for eventual adoption.
The large volume of incoming cats is a bit unusual for this time of year, said Animal Control Officer Alexis Williams, adding how two weeks ago, every kennel at the facility was full.
“They just keep coming in waves,” Williams told The Breeze during a visit.
As a result, she said, the shelter had to transfer three cats to another facility this week to make room for more.
As of Monday, there were a total of five cats and seven kittens awaiting homes after two were adopted, each with unique stories and personality quirks, according to Williams.
