Bihar Assembly elections faced turmoil on Thursday as Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha clashed with RJD MLC Ajay Kumar. The confrontation erupted after Sinha accused the RJD of attacking his convoy with "slippers and cow dung" in Lakhisarai, his constituency. The two leaders exchanged heated insults when their convoys crossed paths.
Ajay Kumar labelled Sinha a "criminal" and accused him of trying to intimidate voters. In response, Sinha called Kumar a "failed leader" and claimed he was "drunk," to which Kumar retorted that it was merely "Mahua," a local liquor.
Sinha further alleged that Kumar's supporters had stopped his vehicle and engaged in "hooliganism." He stated, "His people stopped our car and resorted to hooliganism. He is distraught because he has lost the election. Vijay Sinha's chapter is closed." Sinha claimed his car was attacked by individuals chanting slogans and throwing stones, asserting that these were RJD supporters.
He expressed concerns about his polling agent being turned away and not allowed to vote, describing the situation as a display of RJD's "hooliganism" at specific polling booths in Khoriari village.
In response to the incident, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar instructed the Director General of Police to take immediate action, stating, "No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Strict action will be taken against the miscreants."
