John Swinney has apologised to a Queen's Park player who was left waiting 10 hours for an ambulance after he suffered a dislocated knee. ‌

Charlie Fox was playing for the Spiders in a Glasgow derby match against Partick Thistle at Firhill last Saturday when he suffered the horror injury. ‌

The incident was judged so severe by match officials that play was stopped for more than 10 minutes while the player received initial treatment from club medical staff on the pitch. ‌

Fox suffered the injury at around 3.25pm but was not collected by an ambulance and taken to hospital until 1am.

It comes just weeks after another footballer, Brook Paterson, was left waiting five hours for an ambulance despite suffering a double leg break while playing for Linlithgow Rose women's team.
