Robbie Hummel is 36 years old. He felt much older Wednesday.

The Purdue basketball great and former NBA player recalled a conversation he had with Alabama A&M player Koron Davis at a Bloomington, Indiana, hotel before the Bulldogs' game against Indiana , which the Hoosiers won 98-51 .

Davis is from Gary, Indiana, and played at Bowman Academy. Hummel grew up in Valparaiso and was an Indiana All-Star for the Vikings in 2007. Both are in northwest Indiana, which is called "the Region" by many.

Late in Wednesday night's game broadcast on Big Ten Network, Hummel said he approached Davis because "Region people stick together."

"'Great to meet you. Are you reffing the game tonight?'" Davis asked Hummel.

"I was like, 'I am so old,'" Hummel said as broadcast partner Cory Provus laug
