Agartala, 6 th November 2025: Tripura’s Sidhai police station staff has arrested Prafulla Debbarma, the alleged mastermind behind the brutal killing of a woman accused of witchcraft in Abhicharan Mancharan Kobrapara village on October 26 last.

Police reported that a group of villagers suspected 55-year-old Nanda Rani Debbarma of practicing witchcraft and allegedly beat her to death. In a bid to cover up the crime, some locals hurriedly buried the body and attempted to pass it off as a suicide.

However, the victim’s younger sister filed a murder complaint at Sidhai police station, prompting an investigation. On October 28, authorities exhumed the body and sent it for post-mortem examination before reburial.
