OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- St. Landry Parish Government has announced its decision to discontinue the annual BBQ Festival.

Officials said in a news release that the lack of availability of rides and the escalating costs associated with organizing the event were the reasons for discontinuing the festival.

"Despite our best efforts to secure resources and manage expenses, it is no longer financially feasible to continue operating the festival at the level of quality and safety our community deserves," the release read.

The 2025 festival was scheduled for June 20-22. It was held anually at the Yambilee Festival Grounds in Opelousas.
