BOARDMAN An unlocked car parked overnight in Boardman led to the theft of a high-capacity firearm this week, according to a police report.
The weapon, an American Tactical Alpha Maxx rifle, was taken from the vehicle sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Police responded to the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue on Monday morning to investigate the theft. The owner told an officer that someone had entered her unlocked Dodge Charger and removed the gun.
The stolen weapon is an American Tactical Alpha Maxx chambered in 5.56 caliber. The rifle is black, with a 7.5-inch barrel, and has a capacity of 60 rounds of ammunition. It was valued at $379. Police confirmed the firearm was entered into a law enforcement database as stolen.
