A 55-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Wednesday afternoon during a domestic fight at an apartment in the Avondale neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Police reported the woman was stabbed in the face and neck in the 2800 block of North Woodard Street at approximately 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a police report obtained by the Tribune, the victim, later identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Vanessa Hernandez of Avondale, was found lying bloody on her kitchen floor by witnesses who heard screams.
