WILMINGTON —-Charles McDowell likes to be prepared, especially for public speeches, but he was at a brief loss of words on Wednesday afternoon when he was named the recipient of the Gilman Bowl by the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.
McDowell told attendees of the 27th Annual Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business luncheon at the Hotel du Pont that while he was surprised, he wanted to “say something meaningful.”
“First of all, my mother would say that nobody accomplishes anything by himself or herself. It’s the people that are working with you and the people that have been important to me in the past 20, 25 years is when things really started to happen,” he said.
