BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The shooting of an Amherst woman by police on Oct. 28 has been deemed justified and the woman injured in the shooting has been charged, the Erie County District Attorney's Office said Thursday.

Police shot and injured 26-year-old Tonisha Green of Amherst at at Colonie Apartments on Sweet Home Road and Durham Drive on the morning of Oct. 28.

Police had gone to the apartment complex around 11 a.m. to investigate a menacing complaint from the day before. It is alleged that Green "refused multiple commands" by officers to drop a knife over the course of multiple hours. Green was shot when she allegedly charged towards officers. She remains hospitalized at ECMC.
