CIRCLEVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — A helicopter has been ordered to help with firefighting operations as crews continue to battle a wildfire in Pendleton County Thursday afternoon.
In an update released by the Monongahela National Forest Thursday afternoon, officials said that the fire is 30% contained and approximately 70-80 acres in size, with more than 100 acres burned. Approximately 70 personnel as well as a dozer and a helicopter have been called to help fight the fire. The Forest Service said that the helicopter is expected to arrive later in the day on Thursday.
When emergency personnel first responded to the fire Wednesday, it was already more than 50 acres in size, according to the release.
