PHILLIPS, Neb. (KSNB) - Brandon Hunnicutt has spent more than 25 falls harvesting crops in central Nebraska, but this year brought unique circumstances to his farming operations.
“It’s been an interesting growing season this year. You know, we started out really dry, a lot like 2024. Then we got wet. So I had the wettest June and July that I’d ever had since I’ve been keeping track. Before that, it was the driest April and May. So we kind of had a switch in the weather,” Hunnicutt said.
The corn farmer said historically low corn prices created additional challenges for his operations.
“It’s been a frustrating year from a price standpoint, and I don’t think you can talk to a farmer around that would say otherwise,” Hunnicutt said.
