The Robert Cray Band will return to the Wood River Valley for a sold-out performance at The Argyros at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. In addition to Robert Cray on guitar and vocals, longtime bandmate Richard Cousins will be performing on bass. Dover Weinberg will be on keyboards and Les Falconer on drums.
In an interview, Cray said the band will pull from a master list of songs for its concert here, playing “a few of the favorites,” as well as songs from its most recent album, “That’s What I Heard,” from 2020. It will also go “all the way back to ‘Bad Influence’,” its 1983 album, which Rolling Stone included in its list of the year’s top albums.
Cray took the name of this tour, “Out Driving Around,” from Cousins: It was something Cousins used to say in the ‘80s, in the early days of The Robert
