Good morning, baseball fans!

As many of you may already know, San Francisco was named as one of the first four cities to be getting a Women’s Professional Baseball League team, which is really exciting! I’m looking forward to adding coverage of the new team to our regularly scheduled San Francisco Giants coverage. We are the home of San Francisco baseball on SBNation, after all.

Here’s an update on where things stand so far. San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and New York are the first cities to be named for the new league, which is set to have its inaugural season in 2026. Over the summer, more than 600 players participated in tryouts at Nationals Park in hopes of becoming one of the 120+ players who will be eligible for the draft.
