Alberta’s police watchdog says no charges will be laid against three Lethbridge officers even though investigations determined there were “reasonable grounds” to believe they had committed criminal offences involving breach of trust and unauthorized use of databases related to former MLA Shannon Phillips.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team was tasked in February 2021 with investigating the unauthorized access of Phillips’ private information on police databases by several Lethbridge Police Service officers, including five who were served notice of the investigation, according to its report, released Thursday.
