Synopsis: Over 200 students were treated for symptoms of food poisoning. Most were discharged within 24 hours, while a few remained under observation. The Guntur District Medical and Health Department collected food and water samples from the university kitchens for laboratory analysis.

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister and Guntur District in-charge Minister Kandula Durgesh, currently on an official visit to London, has reviewed the food poisoning incident at SRM University–AP, located near Mangalagiri in Guntur district.

Expressing deep concern over reports that hundreds of students took ill after consuming food in the university hostels, the Minister has directed District Collector Tamim Ansari to conduct a detailed probe from multiple angles.
