SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A Cape Coral man is facing a felony littering charge after allegedly dumping a pile of items in Charlotte County that included cremated remains of a Bradenton woman who passed away in 2024.
Charlotte County Sheriff deputies responded to Cartouche Avenue in Punta Gorda around 4:44 p.m. on October 30 to find a large pile of trash weighing over 500 pounds. Among the many items was a bag labeled with human ashes, according to the sheriff.

A neighbor said she found the pile around 6 p.m. the day before and wanted to alert authorities.
