A multi-vehicle wreck shut down the northbound lanes of I-95 near the Service Plaza late this morning.
Initial reports were that a vehicle traveling southbound on I-95 at a high rate of speed sideswiped another vehicle, veered off the road and into the grass median, went airborne, and collided with a tanker truck and several other northbound vehicles.
The tanker was empty but a saddle tank carrying fuel ruptured leading to a hazardous materials clean up.
Several people have been injured.
All northbound travel lanes are blocked and officials with the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) are using the northbound lane entering the Welcome Center to usher traffic past the scene. Northbound traffic has been jammed past the Maryland state line.
