COLUMBUS — A hat trick from Lydia Smucker gave Anthony Wayne’s girls soccer program its first state championship as the Generals knocked off Hudson 3-2 in the OHSAA Division II state final on Friday at Historic Crew Stadium.

Anthony Wayne finished 19-0-3 in claiming its first championship in four state appearances. The Generals were Division I runner-up in 2019 when they reached their first of three straight state tournaments.

Hudson finished the season 19-1-1.

Smucker, a senior midfielder, broke away down the middle of the field and tapped a shot past Hudson goalkeeper Addie Frank to give Anthony Wayne a 1-0 lead with 31:46 left in the first half.
