(WJET/WFXP) - A local church is helping to make Thanksgiving better for people in Erie.

Bethel Baptist Church is donating 100 boxes of non-perishable food items to the Erie United Methodist Alliance (EUMA) on Monday, Nov. 10, at 9:30 a.m. The donation will take place at Bethel, located at 1781 W. 38th St.

The food will come with a Thanksgiving note from Bethel to show compassion and comfort to those with housing issues.

The donation will benefit a variety of EUMA’s programs, including The Refuge Shelter and the Rapid Re-Housing Program. Veterans, children and youth aging out of foster care are among those who will benefit from Bethel’s gift.
