An Altadena man has been sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison for killing two people in a hit-and-run in Pasadena two years ago.

Jeffrey Butler , 32, took a deal in the case and recently pleaded no contest to two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of hit-and-run resulting in death or serious injury, court records show. He was sentenced the same day.

Butler was crying when the victims’ family spoke at the sentencing held at Pasadena Superior Court, according to Deputy District Attorney Melany Avanessians.

The hit-and-run happened Feb. 18, 2023 on Raymond Avenue and Penn Street.
