Seattle police are investigating a shooting in South Seattle this morning.

At about 10:00 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting and the 800 block of Rainier Avenue South. There officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police and the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) provided medical aid to the victim. SFD transported him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery.

Responding officers arrested a potential suspect, a 34-year-old man, a short distance away. Police recovered the gun as evidence.

Detectives determined that the two men got into an altercation on a King County Metro coach prior to the shooting. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation.
