While the election voting concluded on Tuesday evening, some ballots are still being counted.

The Erie County Voters' Office is recreating any damaged mail-in ballots and going through provisional ballots.

Provisional ballots at the polls are not counted on the day of the election. Instead, they are returned to the Voters' Office and go through a discovery process.

Tonia Fernandez, director of elections, explained what the discovery process is and how it works.

Fernandez said, "So we're basically looking to make sure the voter is qualified to vote and if they voted in a precinct where they're registered or not registered."
