POLK COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - A pedestrian is dead after an ATV crash in Polk County on Thursday.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a deadly crash one mile south of Highway 66 on County Road C at 5:18 pm.

According to Polk County Sheriff, the driver of the ATV, a 42-year-old Polk man, was heading northbound on County Road C, when he struck a pedestrian, 56-year-old Carol Lynn Hofmann of Polk, who was walking southbound on the northbound shoulder.

Hofmann was transported to Merrick Medical Center in Central City, where she was pronounced dead.

According to the sheriff’s office, the ATV driver was not injured, and it is unknown if his seat belt was in use. The sheriff’s office said no one has been cited yet in regards to the crash.
