A weapons charge has been dismissed against an acquitted murder defendant who admitted having a gun in the car he drove when it was pulled over in Springfield Township for having false license plates.
But state Rep. Josh Williams (R., Sylvania) contends a receiving stolen property count for which Vontae Garrett was indicted Monday by the Lucas County grand jury constitutes a continuing effort to deprive Mr. Garrett of his constitutional right to possess firearms.
Mr. Williams represents Mr. Garrett as his defense lawyer.
