BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) - A Palmetto man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for accidentally shooting a friend at a party in 2022, the state attorney’s office said.
Damian Markist Anderson had been convicted in Manatee County Court of manslaughter by culpable negligence with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor.
On July 19, 2022, the victim, 16-year-old Damarion “Poohman” Smalls, was at a friend’s house on 14th Street East with Anderson and other teens.
According to witnesses, the group was smoking marijuana. Anderson was in possession of a firearm when he pulled the trigger. Smalls was struck in his head.
