DALLAS — It was a busy Friday at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the country. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) asked DFW to help maintain safe airspace by reducing flights.

DFW Airport started the travel day with a 15-minute delay because of staffing shortages. The delay cleared by mid-afternoon, but airport officials expect at least 200 daily flight cancellations through Monday.

Some passengers told WFAA that they’re confident about their travel plans as long as airlines are managing cancellations as much as possible. But pilots say the longer the government shutdown continues, the more stress it will create—especially heading into the holiday travel season.
