The Seattle School Board will welcome back two veterans and appears likely to have two new members, as updated election results Friday bring some clarity to these contests.
Vivian Song, a parent and finance professional, has won her District 5 race with Janis White, an attorney and special education advocate, 78.5% to 21%. Song will return to the board more than a year after she resigned from representing District 4 because she no longer lived in that district.
Joe Mizrahi, the secretary-treasurer of UFCW 3000, the grocery, retail and health care union, has a similarly insurmountable lead on Laura Marie Rivera, a parent, educator and nonprofit professional, 77.9% to 21.7%, in the District 4 race.
