EVERETT, Wash. — Cassie Franklin is the projected winner in the general election race for Everett mayor .
Franklin will serve her third term as mayor after defeating challenger Scott Murphy.
As of Friday, Nov. 7, Franklin led Murphy 55% to 45% with only 105 votes left to count in Snohomish County.
Franklin has overseen Everett’s response to the city’s long-standing budget deficit and efforts to expand shelter capacity. Murphy, a former city council member and businessman, centered his campaign on public safety, fiscal restraint and addressing the city’s “retail exodus.”
On public safety, Franklin highlighted FBI data showing Everett’s crime rate at a 10-year low, while Murphy argued the city must hire more officers. The two also differed sharply on the closure of Everett’s Fred Meyer
