MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating after a man was shot Friday morning during an attempted robbery, officials said.

Madison Police officers responded around 11:14 a.m. to the 4700 block of Jenewein Road to help a man who had been shot, MPD said. Officers had already responded nearby around 10:53 a.m. in the 10 block of Kessel Court for a report of shots fired. Madison Police believed the events were related.

After looking through evidence, MPD said the shooting seemed to be part of an attempted robbery during a Facebook Marketplace transaction. Police will look at digital and physical evidence from the scene.

The man found on Jenewein Road was sent to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
