Sins of the father: Should the Earl of Limerick bear the burden of inherited guilt?

Ithought of Exodus last Wednesday when I was lunching with the Earl of Limerick. The vengeful God of Exodus visits the sins of the fathers “upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation”.
