Iam a frequent patron of the Aina Haina Public Library and I am concerned about the decision that the security guard at our branch is no longer needed. This is despite a recent altercation in the library involving two adult males, which required the library’s security guard to intervene and the police to be called.

The Aina Haina Public Library is adjacent to Holy Nativity School and near Aina Haina Elementary School. Children frequent the library, as do older adults in the area. We are concerned about the safety of these vulnerable individuals.

Concerned patrons have written to the governor, our legislative representative has been contacted and volunteers have tried, unsuccessfully, to contact the state librarian to discuss this issue. No one seems to hear our concerns. Will it take an
